Drifting swiftly
fast asleep,
Pillow soaked
with her quiet tears.
Always restless,
she tosses and turns;
Dreams transformed
to nightmares
evoke images of
flames and burns.
A scream escapes
and Daddy wakes-
Rushing to her side
to hold her close.
But his arms can't help,
He doesn't know.
He isn't able to rescue her
from the fire consuming
her frail frame,
within the blurs of
her imaginary world.
