Lemonade

by Caitlin Schwartz

August 21st
We went to the zoo
We saw monkeys
Flamingos
And crocodiles—oh my!
And Daddy bought me a lemonade
In a kangaroo-shaped bottle.
I remember walking past the prairie dogs
My hand in his
Looking up at his smile
And knowing
I had the best daddy in the world.
Then I dropped the bottle
And the lemonade spilled.

Spell binding! Love the fulcrum of those last three lines. They so little and yet so much...anything can happen. Kudos!!
