Kitten Heels

by Terry Olynik

She claimed heritage to Pocahontas
And to patent leather kitten heels.
Professed to be a guilty girl
With immaculate tax returns.

Whatever tune was suggested
She'd spin Van Morrison to no protest.
Wearing her Clemente jersey to church
And her mother's pencil skirt bowling.

Seducing those she detested
Resisting those she did not.
On her unmade bed a lipstick viper
In tail-whip fury and surprise.

A fever dream dime store princess
A proud mother's denouement.
Steering clear-eyed adoration
Into pooled bloodshot remorse.

Love this Terry. Quite the riviting poetic snapshot, with excellent choice of words and construction.

Wow. That 3rd stanza is a poem unto itself.

This is really a treat - such stark contrasts laid out with unique descriptions.

this is rich, vivid, full of such incredible images captured in efficient, delicious word combinations...if that makes any sense at all...amazing -- glad I was able to stop in and read it...
