Too Cheap For Aircon

by Uriel Tovar

Restlessness
Tied to blankets and bed sheets
Contorted in a manner to fit
My red hot burning eyes
Bled dry from the fire breathing
Oscillating fan turning its head in a click
Click
Click
Fashion keeping time with my pounding eardrums
Escalating the pressure of the blood in my veins
And then a moment of silence
And lucidity
Catching a glimpse of a beautiful image
Fleeting now from the jagged sound waves of
The dogs barking alarm
A groan, a deep bellow
Followed by a stammering two three jig step to the window
Spitting out a white knuckled profanity to the world
I slam the window shut isolating a now hotter box
Vacuum sealed tight
Drawing a cold bath because there will be
No sleep tonight.

Poems are born from the strangest correlations.
