Underneath the Shadow

by Uriel Tovar

Underneath the shadow
Of this corporate giant
We squat and
Eat pie
As if it were a rare commodity
Feeling our stomachs grow thicker
And our hearts beat slower
To the clogging
Of our arteries
With blank stares
And half smiles
We are amused
By the psuedo intellectual puppet shows
They allow us to watch on
Our grey boxes
We tune in
And check out
As the structure of this god
Crumbles on top of our formless shells.

Your descriptions give this somber subject a heavy feeling, ominous - very effective.
