Rich and Brown

by Uriel Tovar

Don’t let these days pass
Through you and past you
Don’t let them go
Don’t let them sink away
From your grasp
Don’t let these days pass you by
Don’t let yourself
Siphon these memories away
Down and out into a
Drain
Be thick and aggressive
Be thick like mud
Absorb and attract
Let yourself be entwined
With debris and roots
Let them be dug into you
And bring all of these experiences into you
Allowing them to grow rich
Within yourself.

"let them be dug into you" - my favorite line here.
