Serenity by Uriel TovarSerenity
A word not often used in our world’s
Everyday
Vocabulary
Our lips have forgotten
How to part to begin
Not knowing that the tongue
Carries most of the weight of the work
And maybe
If we were to use it more often
That notion might surrender into us
To become calm
And rested
Gelatin amongst a raging torrent
Shaken but unmoved
Serenity
A notion I grasp at
In the morning
Letting it slip at my tips
With every building problem
I encounter
As the minutes of the day set in
I ask not to be like water
But a sponge
Soaking up the moisture
Of the world around me
And wringing it out
Into the gutters.
