Milk Shakes

by Terry Olynik

Betty ruined the glove compartment

Popping it open time and time again

Betty used the word negro in public

She said it loudly waiting for a reaction

Betty left cigarette burns everywhere

Denying responsibility while furniture smoked

Betty bled on sheets ruined fine cookware teased pets ridiculed artwork tracked in mud changed radio stations

Broke the towel rack called my sister ugly killed all the plants lost the remote frightened the neighbor

Alienated kitty reversed the toilet paper broke my Steeler's mug shoplifted Twizzlers fed my tropical fish macaroni dinner

But

Betty wore short short skirts.
