There are many times when I ask myself,
"What is the point?"
Why do I do this
or why do I do that?
What does it matter if I get an A on this quiz?
Will it teach me to be kind?
Will it teach me how to become a better friend?
Who cares if my grade point average is sub-par?
Does the accumulation of my grades
explain the tenderness of my heart
or the loyalty of my friendship?
Does the letter on the top of my Math test
represent the Brevity of my life
and the motivation this understanding
has given me
to achieve greatness?
But not the greatness of what has
been deemed
the most esteemed
of All letters.
Rather
the kind that leaves a mark
within the hearts
of others.
