Gone with the Distant Dream

by Kim Thevenot

Love stares at the dancer
in the back of a frame from a movie
that is a constant attempt at emulation of the classics

Larger than history, and softer than hushed whispers
of a life that flows with the beauty of ease and elegance;
of a feeling brought forth of desire and naivety.

You were the pulse that quickened with just the right speed-
the look with exactly the right amount of longing-
the marrige with the precise amount of strife.

Loves stares with disdain at oblivious dancer
who has attempted to move to the forefront of a frame in a movie
that is a constant attempt at emulation of the classics

You moved like a child;
forgetful of the ways of the world-
forgetful of how human emotion differs
with the intensity of the gaze across the room.

So I shall always remember the
shattered look on your face
when I realized that you are only
a constant and desperate attempt at emulation of the classics

And oh how you smarted,
when i told you that frankly-
i don't give damn about your dance.

The voice in this is so quick, sharp and easy to keep up with. So many good lines in this.
