Stumble

by Timothy Wilson

I was strolling along my daily life when I fell into her
A hole the size of a 19-year-old girl
I lost my footing quickly and was instantly captured

After a few hours of conversing doubt plagued my infatuated heart
“She’s TOO similar. You’re just having a nervous breakdown old boy, the girl is you”

I pick myself up
The sky is still blue
And the Floridian air is still dead and relentless
My hands still have 10 fingers total
And the hole I fell into is still there

Who knew you could fall into something so fast
And who knew that cliché that there’s someone for everyone may be true
I didn’t know
I still don’t

But I will bet my beating heart that tomorrow
Bright and early
Be it in mistrust of my crazy mind
Or hope for something real
I’ll be back at ground zero
Hoping to fall into the hole I’m looking for

Great word play behind one terrific line after another. Awesome.
