God and Me

by Timothy Wilson

We have a lot of catching up to do, God and myself
Perhaps I should start by apologizing
Or perhaps, he should

Now that I know him
And now that he knows me
I guess the best thing to do right now is start fresh
I bow my head in the silence of my bedroom:

“Dear, God I’m Timothy, It really is a pleasure to meet you”
“You wouldn’t have liked me before, but I didn’t like me either”
“Let me just say I’m a big fan of your work now that I know what you do”
“Thank you for all of my lives, and the path of understanding they build upon”

I guess the best way to approach this is by shaking hands
Starting fresh,
A new beginning which can follow the simplicity in “forgive and forget”
Perhaps we should start with a fresh slate

“I think we’re going to get along great, you and me”
“What should we do first?”

This is a simple and real perspective, and I like the way you showed us what's going on. :)

Intriguing last line that has me wanting to know more. A very sweet and real piece. The first and third stanzas are my fave they are light and heavy ideas at the same time. Write on -- E
