We Lived Like Kings by Gabe ZamoraWe once were kings amongst other things
From rags to riches, left eachother in stitches
From time to time we would joke and rhyme
Then we lost touch of that castle in the sky.
Walls torn down, the bridges were burned
Dreams infested with deadened adolescence
Money is the key that makes spirits sing.
Where have all the children gone? they sing
a new song of what is wrong and wrong.
Right is up and left becomes straight
This maze is a giant circle.
There once was a time when we were jesters
In a court of our own, that placed we called home
we traded in dreams to fall into the scheme
Of the master plan to build on top of what was broken.
Now I saw rise up and focus on what WE once told us
Follow your heart, keep your friends by your side
Don't abide by the world on a platter
Simple problems never mattered until the time
Was splattered across our laps so we doned our
Caps and set out in the rain, not to play
But be paid a monetary existence trade in
Broken bottles for nickels and dimes
For a simpler time when we lived like
Kings amongst other things. 02/24/2011 Posted on 03/01/2011 Copyright © 2025 Gabe Zamora
