Let Us Dither, Darling by Ken HarnischLet us dither, darling
After all, time to us
Is some sandy beach
Each grain a decade
That will never erode
Or be blown away
Let us laze, love
We are not growing older
Those are not creaks and wheezes
In the machinery, and
The sags and hollows in the mirror
Are but a nip and tuck away
Let us pontificate, precious
We have the endless days
As we did when children
And the endless nights
To contemplate what
Every daylight means
And inevitably, idol
When we lay side by side
In moldering caskets
We can caress each other
With brittle ivory fingers
And plan tomorrow’s menu

| Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 02/16/11 at 04:12 PM Clever and delightful vocabulary. A very true sense of an enduring love, even after the moulder. Thank you. A long relationship requires a good sense of humor, and you subtly include that element. To my Favs. |
