I suggest you stop suggesting things

by Timothy Wilson

The product of a stubborn mind
Front to back
And bound by spine

We search the pages for some answers
Curing sadness curing cancers
A simple way to lend your ear
To those whose biggest problem is everyone will hear

They rant and rave the shelves are full
Busy bookstores selling you things to pound in your skull
And when it’s all been read and forgot
We have no money from all the advice we’ve bought
We’ll shake the sofa and spend some more
Someone will tell us then what to save for

So yes I burnt books to the ground
Spit on them and stomped around
I’m tired of hearing there worthless yap
I had to end this winded crap
But burning books they say is bad
is Something wrong? Is my mind sad?
And so I went a few blocks down
To the only place left selling books in town
Giving in weary I took one from the shelf
under the section they labeled self help
