White Fence

by Kim Thevenot

My dreams are slowly becoming old photographed
worn, thick and fading at the edges
available to forget to all those but
the one that presses they deeply into her heart.

I should have known I would be the undoing of you,
streaking reds and golds across your deeply set blues.
Defiling an untouched pleasure meant for those will less
obtuse ideas about picket fences and silver bouquets.

Perhaps it is time to say good bye to the
high white queen,
perhaps I shall be perpetually waving a home coming queen
::goodbye::

Dreams are good at letting you down unfortunately, which is probably the reason I stopped having them. A fear of commitment is usually do to doubt, or of a fear of inadequacy itself; I suppose it's better to find out about it sooner rather than later - that's what I tell myself anyway. Anyway, great piece; the frustration and unhappiness are well conveyed (assuming I didn't make them up on my own); very nicely done.

I think you meant "I should have KNOWN I would be the undoing of you" instead of just know. Anyway I actually love the line and the rest of the poem is great. Very vivid and nice parallelisms too. Well done and thanks for sharing. Though my dreams often seem the meaningless kind (at least what I remember), literature about them is always interesting.
