Cloak of Chaos

by Christine Thibeault

Black and white unremittingly trounced by gray,
and reassuring convictions are seized by familiar
misgivings incessantly wanting to play.
Constricting cloak of chaos eradicates the threads that had
once woven specs of euphoria within and around...
the consequential fibers that remain are suffocating.
Graveling decadence momentous,
future revelations so easily read...
yet humanity remains ignorant
and selfishness rears the ugly head.
What can we do? What can we say?
altruism can win the battle between
what’s black, what’s white…and gray.
Self-effacing perseverance can put an end to self- pity and doubt…
the chaos, misgivings and decadence…couldn’t we do without?
Cloak threaded with chaos… let it be replaced.
Stitch humanities tapestry with tranquility,
and hostility… erase.
What can we do? What can we say?
We must do more than JUST live each day by day.
