in secret
under the red streaming tree
where promises languished
whispers lay unnoticed
laughing on occasion
crying when the moon shifted
aimlessly.

she traced the fears
along the quieter side of his hesitation
wondering how to reach this man
as he lingered a bit longer
around her sweet kisses
