Just Hold Me

by Genevieve Sturrock

just hold me

don't speak
of tomorrow
or yesterday

don't embrace
me with passion
or possession

just hold me

don't ask me
what's wrong
or if i'm okay

let me close
my eyes and
rest for a bit

just hold me

should you
feel a dampness
on your shoulder

don't look
too closely
or wonder why

just hold me

i am weary
in need of
peaceful succor

let me set
down my burdens
and rest for a bit

just hold me

This says it so well, what is needed sometimes, without even the slightest observation, just acceptance.

Ah, a peaceful lament that touches me deeply. Well said.

Well worded reminder that we all need a little holding from time to time.
