Shallow

by Genevieve Sturrock

i don't want to see you
in the naked light of day
i so enjoy this vision
you spent hours to perfect

don't tell me your
opinions of the world
your depths are unknown
and i'd rather play in the
bouyant surface of your thoughts

don't ask me questions
i won't share myself
a snappy comeback and
a smile are all i have to offer

i know you think
i am beautiful
let's just leave
it that way

intimacy is overrated
as we are just
too shallow to
handle the
reality of
our humanity

You really hit the nail on the head with this one! Loved the last stanza- so true! Good write

You definitely mix the disappointment with some pretty nicely done anger. This is good stuff all around.
