Somewhere In Time II

by Scott Utley

The love story plays itself out to its perfect conclusion.
The writer knows what strings to pull to
Calm the viewer’s heart. The credits roll and the music starts,
And everyone is happy and so the story ends.

Why cant this last forever?
This moment in the night …
Just before the dawn …
Feels fragile …
Like the wings of a captured butterfly.
Why cant this last forever?
Why cant this last forever?
Why must our worlds collide?
I calm my heart.
I close my eyes.
The universe commands,
Fly, butterfly, fly!
