It's Not Apathy Anymore by Genevieve Sturrockdon't speak to me of
the telling of futures
how past injustices
work out in the end
i'm sure at some point
i'll look back and
find balances of joy
for all this pain
but today let me rage
gnash teeth and growl
let me rent flesh
break bones, taste blood
for my heart is beyond
soothing with calm words
softly spoken and well meant
it demands vengeance
hot, heavy and foul
an eye for an eye
a limb for a limb
a life for a life
it will not be satisfied
with platitudes or apologies
until you are eviscerated
guts spilled, steamy and sticky
mixing with the dirt at my feet
your pain palpable with a life all its own
let it be witnessed
by the ones you love most
and see them turn away
selfish, thoughtless, careless
then, i'll rest easy 02/17/2009 Author's Note: i finally learned how to hate...and like everything in my life, i do it with passion

| Posted by Sandy M. Humphrey on 02/18/09 at 09:22 PM I feel your anger and it is righteously spilled forth in a form that suits it well, now that you have poured it out it will make room for healing of your pain. smh |
