Voyager 1 by Vikki Owensim sending out transmissions for as long as i can.
im pretty far out there,
farther than any human or human object has ever been.
no one even knows what i will find out here...
im all alone,
but im sending messages back.
it takes 14 hours for you to recieve them.
im not even sure if you are,
in fact,
receiving them.
i just send.
i've passed beyond
the eggshell of the solar system,
all by myself.
the sun no longer has a pull on me.
i take readings,
i make measurements,
i analyze....
and send my findings back.
i wonder, in my trajectory,
whether i will ever see the earth again.
you know i wont,
but i do not recieve any incoming transmissions
from you.
instead i hear
what might be the humming of the universe,
the background noise of gamma radiation,
but nothing from you.
so i press record,
and send it back.... 02/02/2009 Posted on 02/03/2009 Copyright © 2025 Vikki Owens

| Posted by George Hoerner on 02/03/09 at 01:37 PM Great write lady. I love this and it isn't much different back here on earth. We sent out signals but rarely do we get much in return. Just a 'hi' here or a 'bye' there. Very rarely a true 'I love you'. Nicely done. |
