Write On

by Ken Harnisch

Write on, o beautiful one

The night is longer
Than you imagine
And the words, now
A hopeless jumble in
A busy mind
Are there, at the tip of your hand
Awaiting only the fire in your heart.

There is so much to say
And no time to say it
Reality intrudes on
Musings of light and love
So often it seems
Ridiculous to
Parse one from the other
Or form the verbs and nouns to try

Yet, they do not go away:
No vapors are these, shredded in the breeze;
No idle meanderings are the rivers
Of your heart; no vacant utterances
Are the poems forming in your soul.

They bang at your cellar door
Crying for release;
Demanding freedom,
And the light of day

Write on, o beautiful one;
Write madly on;
Let participles dangle;
Forget context and syntax and
Dependent clauses for the moment

Write on, and all will settle into their rightful niches
All will come.

As always you have such a power with words, that it reaches deep within your readers, to inspire... I pray that you always Write On...

I never could separate light from love, for me they are ever one ... When I first read this poem was naked of comments and,I thought how beautiful your speak for the beautiful one. The wonder of this poem is that the reader on embracing your words may feel encouraged to write on, whatever the musings, and however imperfect the fall of words. This is a gift in itself...lovelight&peace

Oh man, I love this! Your painting of the union of soulworks and wordworks is stunning. Your poem's encouragement and affirmation of the artist's freedom smiles me. This definitely goes in my Favorites list. Thanks for a lovely and inspiring account of writing, Ken.
