Shifting Sands

by Alisa Js

it takes a splattering fool and a compromised tool
to chip away truth from a certain
pretentious clown of no worth,
other than to be thrown in the trash
and discarded

filth never belongs above ground
the stench rarely smothered as the days wear on
and they do by the bright of the noon day sun
revealing the lies from everyday flies
leaving maggots behind
as they do

shifting sands never remain
across noble hearts
how could they?
disingenuous and shallow
they howl in the wind
as the melody escapes
with nothing but carnage beside
and a foul smell

the wolf screams in disgust
and with a nod of his head
he is gone,
back to the darkness
back to the den
away from shambles behind ...
