how has your life turned out
greater or lesser
than those memories held
close to the heart,
remember still?

those pathways and doorways seen
tell me, do you try once more
or fall back to slumber
and sleep.

is there life after thirty?
or sad memories of
what could have been,
doors closed
unopened,
as you stand there and weep
helpless to carry on
without another hand
a friendly smile

when did your world get so dark
and lonely,
watching as others stroll by,
family and friends
tokens and dreams
gone with each increasing
new wind
of change.
all without you,
ponder it's meaning
if any ...

Nice write as always. Ah yes, but is there life after 70? Life goes on and pulls us through it until it lets go. So we have no real choice but to swim with all our effort or be drowned in remorse.
