Once Removed and Counting by Alisa Jsthe answer to the question will forever remain
precariously between,
within and released.
and how can I begin to explain
these tender revelings
that call your name,
are they merely waning echoes
of all we had
of all we were,
one step up from
certain disaster
of a time we were so certain
and yet, never stepped beyond
the possibility
there against all probability,
we walked away
but why
would you have recognized
if I passed with another's footsteps,
our aching hearts so desperate then
our lonely lives so ready for
a new reality,
beyond the scope of circumstance
and failed romances of our shattered past,
each of us remembered well
the discontent
the sad regret
of hoping for,
if only ...
and here we are, still pondering
as life gropes on,
we stand and watch
and contemplate
the inevitable,
once removed
that's us

That can be tough if both are gun shy from previous chances taken which didn't work our. We buys our ticket and takes our chances. In retrospect, I've been lucky to pick the right ticket. |
