WHY IS IT

by Charles E Minshall

Why is it?

When we just get to sleep
A horn outside goes beep, beep, beep?

Why is it?

When we have a chance to sleep in
The garbage man visits banging tin?

Why is it?

When we're running late long before the day is bright,
The light bulb flashes and ends the light?

Why is it?

When we dash to answer a telephone ring,
A dial tone we hear when we lift the darn thing?

Why is it?

When we buy a new car and decide to travel,
The road we pick has a loose coat of gravel?

Why is it?

On a trip when we are needing to pee,
The stations restroom is locked and takes a key?

Why is it?

When the grass is long and needs to be cut,
The lawn mower engine refuses to put, put, put?

Why is it?

When we have time to write and time to think,
Our pen always seems to run out of

i think it's because that's what life does to us. disappointment and frustration are part of feeling alive, i think.

Great fun reading! Why is it? Why is it when I read your poetry I can't help leave smiling?

Important...even serious questions given a light touch. Very clever also the way you end this piece sir. Kudos!

Answers? You want answers? Well, any approach to scientific inference which seeks to legitimize your questions, and answer in reponse to complex uncertainty is, for me, a totalitarian parody of a would-be rational learning process. There...happy? Honestly ChrMin....much fun with "CharMin's Law".....thanks for this!
