your quiet ways

by David Garner

Why so soft?
Why so small?
I know there's more
underneath it all.
Something else is going on
other than
your quietÂ…

You can tell
me anything.
I know you have seen
some better days,
(but) I can hear you
loud and clear
even through
your quietÂ…
your quiet ways,
yes, your quiet ways.

Maybe there
is another way to show me
what you have been feeling
other than this same old thing
of hiding what you've been thinking
Don't you know
you don't go so far?
Don't you know?

Why so far?
Why so strange?
Could this be
just another phase?
I can hear you
loud and clear
even through
your quietÂ…
your quiet ways,
yes, your quiet ways.

This poem seemed to build to a powerful conclusion. I couldn't have stopped reading it had I wanted to. Great piece.
