True Love by Alisa Jsyou laughed and the world was brighter that day
I remember it all so well, or so I'd like to believe
it was everything to me,
and I couldn't imagine a day without you
the truth, I suspect is that you never really cared
not enough to go the distance
not enough to stay...
words are fine
easy to spill,
most anyone can speak them
just listen
where were you, my dear when I needed you?
no where.
anywhere, but around me
off again, gallivanting with
traipsing
even salivating
at the end of the day, what does it matter?
we all make choices, known or unknown
and for that moment it was real,
something you used to feel
crazy how it no longer matters
not really ...
I think I used to believe in love
pure from the heart and soul,
two beings together, forever and ever
never another
no way
maybe I'm callused
maybe I'm not,
true love is something I've always dreamed of
and yet, in my life, there's always something
that something
that stumbles and stops ...
maybe there is no such thing as true love
a legend of those who write,
a creation of those who sing
a desire of those who have not

Posted by George Hoerner on 09/28/08 at 02:18 PM Nice write Alisa! I read the fairy tales too and believed. I thiok somehow we've become too demanding of ourselves and the other. The glass slipper just won't fit right any longer. There is always that toe that gets pinched.

Posted by Christopher Shin on 09/28/08 at 05:20 PM I remember a saying "men marry cause they are tired of waiting. Women matty cause they are curious. In the end both are disappointed.". That is my concept on love. But very touching
Posted by Alison McKenzie on 09/28/08 at 08:08 PM I think it's important to remember the "times" we live in...the age of chaos and quarrel...and how everything is all jumbled and difficult. I've always gotten the impression that it's nearly impossible to remain still long enough for anything to last "forever". So far, this has been true from my perspective, anyway. Still, I also know the sadness of these monuments we pass, and then come to regard as moments that didn't really matter in the long run. You have a way of expressing these matters that just blows me away.
