Needs versus Wants

by Alisa Js

I rolled them out, the arguments for and against
logic and reason
wanting and needing
anything that would continue to make some semblance of sense,
on one hand, the obvious glares
steadfast and never changing,
on the other
hope willed wishes and dreams
stuck in my head
ravishing my heart
sighing again, desiring
to possess
everything.
plain as the wiring in some medium sized brain
pressing on main speak
glowing neon letters shout
where is that voice of treason?
the one we’ve turned to in times past
the one I so wanted to believe in and tried to.
forget the present,
it matters not, how badly you may want or does it
if need doesn’t last past the first taste …
