No Chance

by Alisa Js

I am but a fly on a terrible ledge
wrangling for a footstep towards liberty's breath,
I listen and hold on and wait forever
wanting to believe
needing to believe,
that maybe this time will be different than most,
more than any other
why do I find myself struggling here?
not willing to acknowledge the letters
words strung together spell, 'liar extraordinaire'
and still I attempt to see,
smudging my eyes
for the right words and meanings,
left for me
blatant ! why can't I see?
ghostly snickers telling me,
'you fool!'
what kind of idiot continues,
what kind of loser tries anyway?
certainly not those like me!
rings the chant in my head as I stumble
grasping for anything that feels like certainty
sadly, I was wrong
yet again ...

...alisaJs, pin this one up on your wall, gal. this is so, punch-punch, up against the ropes by our wishes, dreams...HOPES! a deicious way of your telling such a common woe of being human, i[we humans] [and you express it well], soooo many of us are invested in the HOPE leading each endeavor, o' the heart, happiness, white picket fence, 2 and 1/2 kids, ...great, lil' snapshot of the human condition. annnnd your heart too!

It isn't easy to find that one "right" diamond in a haystack full of "wrong" ones, is it? I feel for you, love! But hang in there. The "right" time is yet to come, and it will be happily greeted, I'm sure of it!

this is so wonderful... I love the execution and juxtaposition... a new favorite for me!

Oh that was brilliant. I could see that like a monologue in a film. It was rhythmic and punchy and strong. Great.
