Traditional Strife

by Alisa Js

listening, I learned not to differ too much
from the well beaten traps of the tried and traditional
making one's way along this dissimilar path
annoyed for becoming the worst
yet, in my world, tradition never remained
always sliding towards the edge
thrown past the full skirts
variant,
unique is a word one uses when trying to sound polite
they don't mean nice
nice never counted
in the mind sets where racial bigots live large,
cookie cutter
brains on repeat
gray matter without neurons are my thoughts,
misfiring spackle,
I will be who I am
walk away if you don't agree, don't bother me with more of your drivel
we'll treasure the memories
that is, if you want to call them that
in what's commonly spoken of as
traditional strife,
in other words, bullshit,
as for me, I will continue
keeping me real, those who matter near
wanting for nothing as nothing is not
grateful for life
this life ...
