iT iS 4 YoU by Gregory OregonSo why do I write
If I
So happen to believe
Nothing will ever come of
The pen and me
Not true
I am not sure if you the people
Will ever veer into these pages and speak
And spread the sound of your voices
Reading aloud my words in synchronous tones
A melody, my song sung by the mouths and tongues
Of strangers with hands I will never shake
Faces I will never greet
I with no attempt to make less of the poets gift
Do not do what I do for the glory and cheers
Of my fellow poets and peers
I do not do what I do for the approval of those
I do not copy and paste these words
Onto numerous pages
Hoping that one among the rough
May turn out to be as shiny
As that ring
I so wish to encircle her finger with
No
no!
I wish only that
She that is miles from me
Know more so than the words I have spoken
Over and over
with intrepid determination
the endless desire
fervid chase
to grab hold of this emotion
hold it still long enough so that I may
explain and say
To have her understand something that is incomprehensibly
Outside of grasp and breath of definition
The depth of this lay so far from the light of knowledge
The only fact of its existence is its resonance
Slowly pulsing through the darkness
Of ignorance
Carried by faith
And a slight understanding that she too
Feel what I do
Watching it free itself of ignorance
Finding its way into the day to outshine the sun
Saying what words sometimes never seem to achieve
..
This is not a poem
But an action
Since they speak louder than words
And are sometimes required to be seen
And not heard
I act three times, take three bold steps
That can bring about the end of all that I knew
Or the beginning of something new
Three steps to Forever:
I(1)
Love (2)
YOU(3)
