Stephanie found the ah-hah
Moment she dreaded to find,
(But knew she must),
While relating her afternoon's
Doctor's visit to her partner.
News years in the waiting.

Once the potential
Prince of her dreams,
He was now too distracted
By an "According To Jim" rerun
To hear or process the announcement
Of her impending pregnancy.

Without a tear she scooped-up
The keys to their Toyota,
And with the radio blaring
Van Morrison's "Wild Night"
She drove purposefully west
Away from her future.
