reality bites by Alisa Jshaving rattled the remnants
of anything that felt like belonging
I kept scattering and maintaining my grip
around an old, cherished dream
vaguely familiar, or so it would seem...
if I could only manage now
to hold back this sense,
of falling deeper
inside myself,
around the times I remember with ease
of gentle smiles and memories,
desert demons and bittersweet themes, frozen in place ...
I want to stay there, sometimes
languishing,
and never return
to this harshness that is ... 07/15/2008 Posted on 07/16/2008 Copyright © 2025 Alisa Js

| Posted by Glenn Currier on 07/16/08 at 06:48 PM I can relate. I am quite capable of losing myself in reveries and fleeting dreams of what was and could be. I'd rather stay there, but as you poem alludes... reality bites. Thanks for this honest glympse into your a poet's soul. |
