High Foreheads, My Children of Chernobyl by David GarnerHigh foreheads,
my children of Chernobyl,
elongated by neglect and contamination.
You still have wide ears and
black eyes,
I've not forgotten.
Mouths too open and
chins with bone popping bumps.
Teeth like stained barbed wire.
DownÂ’s.
Wide eyes, no eyes.
Heavy heads.
Small arms.
Neon-colored green spots.
Triangular faces.
Veins popping out as if scoping for nutrition and oxygen.
Veins scratching the surface of skin, "We need help."
Sorrow and
high chests.
Internal outside.
One leg.
Floor ridden.
Bed screamer.
Big legs.
Crooked legs.
Long long legs.
Head abscesses.
Nostrils like ears.
Scream like a still life bowl vacant of still life fruit.
High foreheads, more high foreheads
my children of Chernobyl.
I've not forgotten.
