Suddenly I Am Thrust

by David Garner

Suddenly I am thrust with the need,
and I do mean NEED,
to connect to new love, old love, some kind of great love,
and I do mean GREAT

love.

Suddenly I am thrust with the need,
and I do mean NEED,
to find new friendships, old friendships, some kind of strong friendships,
and I do mean STRONG

friendships.

Suddenly I am thrust with the need,
and I do mean NEED,
to invest in new values, old values, some kind of real values,
and I do mean REAL

values.

Suddenly I am thrust with the need,
and I do mean NEED,
to live my life, new life, old life, some kind of true life,
and I do mean TRUE

life.

I do mean NEED.
And I do mean GREAT.
And I do mean NEED.
And I do mean STRONG.
And I do mean NEED.
And I do mean TRUE.

the repetition here is the hook, line&sinker of this poem. tugging and forward, this is extremely heartfelt. fine work david...

This is so strong, intense and it has such yearning... I love it! I felt like I was standing in the sand with waves crashing and thundering. This is very moving. Thanks for sharing! ~N

This would make a great two voice oral poem. Balance/counter balance. Great writing.
