Sitting silently
at my desk
i people watch.
the self-important clients
in their corner of prestige
and keeping up appearances attire.
they give me a weak little smile
to either acknowledge my presense
or passively poke my ego with
their pointy noses.

Being a born and raised
homegrown native
i know
THINGS.

The petite pretty
with her pearl earrings
matching pumps
and figure forming dress
is
sleeping with the mayor...
's wife.

The ruddy faced man
who breaks into a
s w e a t
just coming down the hall
has diabetes, but
refuses to include
his family in this
m a t t e r.

The elegant matriarch who
wears her religion
like a ballgown
drinks
herself to sleep.
every night,
and
spreads gossip
like
F e r t i l i z e r.

I do not feel above
these people.
or below.
we are equal.
i just chuckle to
myself
on
their
i n d e s c r e t i o n s.
