Type A v Victim: The Struggle for Balance by Genevieve Sturrockrigid control
defines the world
nothing happens
that is not planned
the unexpected is
unacceptable and
rejected out of hand
pedastal built
in one's own mind
high enough to
look down on
those who
dare to defy
the confines
of normalcy
labeling them
worthless
versus
overwhelmed ineffectual
leaves no mark
upon the world
beyond one's own
shattered emotions
worn raw and bleeding
upon the surface
to be abraided
by the smallest
breath of life
memorable only
as a pathetic
example of
what not to do
and worthy
of all derision
the struggle
somewhere in between
the unresponsive
and the over exposed
is where i strive to be
to accept what
i cannot change
with an open mind
to reject what
i do not believe
with integrity
and to love myself

is integrity a gift?
Sometimes I think it must be,
a seed planted that we nourish (or not).
Wonderful poem, thought provoking. |
