The Moon Shines on Me

by David Garner

I am more than awake.
I feel alive.
The moon shines on me at 4:55

Lunar addiction.
I need this fix.
The moon shines on me at 4:56

I feel the galaxy.
I am the heaven.
The moon shines on me at 4:57

This is to be.
I owe it to fate.
The moon shines on me at 4:58

Into my nerves.
All down my spine.
The moon shines on me at 4:59

My instrument hums.
As if I were a harp.
The moon shines on me at 5:00 sharp

This is my dream.
For this I will strive.
The moon shines on me at a minute past 5

"I love you, David."
"Moon, I love you."
The moon shines on me at 5:02

"I give you light.
So you can feel free."
The moon shines on me at 5:03

The best alarm clock.
Need I say more?
The moon shines on me at 5:04

I'm still awake.
And yes, I'm alive.
The moon shines on me at 5:05

Wonderfully inventive and such a sense of being, yes, "alive". The rhyme only accentuates this feeling, moves it along with the detail--it is all as wonderous as you and the moon, and moves with the relentlessness of time.
