I have nothing.

I just don't remember.

Nothing really jumps out at me.

Went to that water park with Sunny.

I guess we were getting ready for school.

All just a big blur to me right now.

Do you really remember anything we ever did in October?

Found a feather in your pheasant on Thanksgiving at my Grandma's.
12.
I don't remember a single Christmas gift I gave you or received.

Posted by Nicole D Gregory on 03/18/08 at 02:57 AM Wow! I was trying to get the whole picture on this and its concept... YOU are an amazing writer! I could see it as a tree and the relationship as goes along; but earlier I also thought it could be an ice-burg and how much there really is going on below. Again, I am in awe of your words, the perception and your use of visualization. Bravo! ~N

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 03/18/08 at 03:01 PM Ok, I like what this does to my mind, stopping me at each month, causing me to consider what's going on behind each line. #11 is curious. The ultimate Christmas (?) tree look seems to reinforce the year without "gifts". Very creative.
Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 04/01/08 at 04:33 PM Very interesting poem, I have taken a while to comment... it has the feel of a game, and recording the playful (and yet serious) results. the tree shape... gives it an end of the year review. The title gives a sad overtone. The last line has an emptiness that is intimate yet distant, a sense of realization, a summing up.
