I'm Not on Your Time, Stranger by David Garner
At the door,
you check your watch,
you catch your breath,
you fix your belt.
I'm not on your time, stranger.
Inside the door,
you look behind,
you sense I'm there,
you look ahead.
I'm not on your time, stranger.
Just out the door,
you block my way,
you look toward the sky,
you stare at the USA Today.
I'm not on your time, stranger.
Sidewalk's packed,
you stroll ahead,
you block my path,
you adjust yourself.
I guess I'm on your time, stranger.

| Posted by Mara Meade on 03/12/08 at 07:04 PM This caught me completely off-guard. Excellent, excellent. Wish I had written it because it is so often what I think. |
| Posted by Mara Meade on 03/12/08 at 07:05 PM I also put in on my favourites list. Man, you nailed it. |

| Posted by Elizabeth Jill on 08/09/08 at 02:33 PM I found this poem on the "Favorites" list. Perfection. I can relate... I've been there often. (Your description seems so calm compared to what goes on in my mind when this happens :/!)
