Paradigm Sift

by Alisa Js

Standing here, like always
With my arms to the sky
Listening,
Heart wide open, ready to receive
Your words fall right through me
When they used to remain
Forever, it seemed
As they rolled off your tongue into the night’s tasty breeze
And on delicate wings they
Surrounded my soul like a warm hug, so sweet and full
Each note and key, perfect like you …

But that was so long ago
Days, even weeks, maybe more
And I’m left to wondering about the how
And the why
This departure from emotional substance

Candy colored kisses work well in the moonlight
When the reflection of the clouds smile
And the inflection rings true,
Harmonious, we once belonged to the tribe
Of the knowledgeable and few or so I told myself,
This was the reason for our being
To share all our know how
And bring forth those new buds
Of everlasting truths to behold, when told
By your mouth simmering with wisdom bites
Or so I wanted so desperately to believe
Before this sieve opened wide
The fault line has shifted
Tumbling efforts of letters betrayed
They slide …

Quite a painful and life altering realization, captured beautifully. Totally with you on this, the idea of the great sense of loss.
