That Tender Tone

by Gregory Oregon

As if sung
Or carried by a harmony
That love plays
She melts me every time
When she says my name

And I
Break
Me
Mr. 215 lbs can't fit into any of my t-shirts the right way
Mr 50 % Country fed Irish
Mr. Bronx New York Rican
That spends
Way too much time in the gym

Arms as big as legs
Shoulders that look like little heads
Legs as big as…pretty damn big
Always serious, always looking mean
My brow is furrowed heavily
As if the weight of the sun were too much for it to carry
My skin is callous and thick as a rhino’s back
Mr. Tough guy...
right?

And with just a word
Just one little word
From those perfect lips of her's…
“Baby”
And I am undone

Humbled
gratefully
By Your Love

Marvelous contrasts described here. I really enjoyed the details of "you" - the impact was much greater as you melt with "just a word".
