Sad Wrongs

by Alisa Js

Look at this tumbleweed confetti
Is this all we have to show
Lost in dusty covered reasons in this pale pathetic glow
Of something that once fired hot and flamed across our skies,
Catch me before I fall aghast in utter contemptuous lies
Spilled against empty cans of spirits lifted dry
Of the finest wines our money could buy in hopes of greatness beyond
This blackened night,
As we peered toward the moon in our finest attire
On that stupendous day in June of way back when
Before I could remember and never meant to spend …

Before the rumble burst our fictitious, foolish dreams
As we wandered around in peril
Laughing at the others
And now, we are standing alone
By this plagiarizing sea
Of crumbling intentions
Misspent reflections
And I die towards the sun
While the heat beats not
Against this flimsy excuse for emptiness …

I refuse to be the victim in this endless song and dance
Of one day, maybe, whenever we get the chance
Of what, exactly
Care to expound on these desperate notes I hear
Every time I gather ‘round the vine
Of hopelessness and misery …

Some of us prefer to hold onto those dreams, burst or not :) -- and you're right, misery breeds misery! Sometimes its necessary to hang our heads together, tho... Another very nice poem -- good job Alisa!
