Mind Freeze

by Alisa Js

was it simply all an illusion
a melding of the mind
playground of possibilities
prancing in the winds of pain
images delightful, promises untouched
by human hands
wrapped inside the bands of Elmer's glue
torn away when the rains come
as they often do in times of change
rearrange the building stops
placed there upon the strands
and sinking fast in this nowhere place ...

stand aside and watch those embers fade
as if you had a choice
the night falls last
and we return each to our starting steps
of red and blue ...

another day, another dream
vacant,
these ever present memories get in the way
of needless rage
unable to defeat the role that passion plays
upon our hearts and souls,
left behind in that nowhere place
the melding of the mind ...

Needless rage...there's a lengthy concept, eh? Nice, as always.

Yes, childhood innocence is a helluva thing to lose -- maybe if we could all remember the sticky little Elmers fingerprints of our youth we'd put aside some of the more petty stuff. Love the rhythm of stz. 1 especially.

I especially like the second stanza. I want to read this again and again. Beautiful Alisa!

sharp and punching like a jab that goes through the skin and directly to the lungs themselves. this poem is intelligent but not too playful and hard to digest because the raw frustration is shining hard. so well written alisa...very fine.
