Thoughts of Winter and the Cold

by David Garner

It won't go away; I cannot ignore the winter.

I tip my hat to winter daylight.
I can count on daylight.

Parts of me like winter morning.
Not all of me embraces morning.

I feel winter in my bones.
Not even forty yet, my weary bones.

Exposure to cold sunlight via five large windows.
Snow, ice, wind, clouds, sun--all outside my windows.

I crave boatrides in winter, the cold fresh air.
Bits of sea splashing my face catupulted by air.

I want Arctic, Everest, Reykjavík, Anchorage.
I want to start my own business in Anchorage.

My bones feel better once I crawl inside the winter.

I like this form. The last line is brilliant!
