what petals, yellow rose

by David Garner

what petals, yellow rose
what hair, monkey grass
what wonder, hummingbird
what design, seedcake
what lush, lotus flower
what structure, lonesome bridge
what head, topiary
what path, stepping stones
what movement, golden koi
what light, lantern box
what placement, stump for sitting
what smoothness, stone for skipping
what velvet, pond for pondering
what majesty, reed with lily
what circles, waterfall
what breath, you, who must have been born a garden

I read this poem AFTER I made seedcake for poet's night... (Molly Bloom's seedcake from her chater in Ulysses... very erotic and delicious)... the perfect birthday cake! The sense of wonder and excess here... delights me... I have to love it!
