soft hands

by Mary Frances Spencer

when fists
open like flowers
eyes look
inward
to find
radiant light

one by one
my fingers unfurl petals
blocks
once tightly held
tumble
porcelain
domino
expectations

judgements falling
one after the other
and when
the row is over
dawn shimmers
settling stardust
with whispers
of a departing moon

i close my eyes
a pale rose
inhaling fresh
today
blooms now

open heart
soft hands
gentle
against the
thorns

Author's Note: I am learning some Myofascial Release techniques as a Massage Therapist, and it is very important to have soft hands, no expectations, and an open heart when doing this work. So a recent class I was in inspired me to write this. MFS

I love "fingers unfurl petals" and "gentle against thorns" --everything in life approached this way is better... it is beautiful you are learning this technique--and turning it into (recognizing in it) poetry!

This is beautiful Mary Frances ... It gives me angelshivers for I have been contemplating my own hands with new eyes during the past month ... seeing petals in their opening, light in their radiance, touched the soft. Oh! feel my tears of joy on finding these, your words...*m.a
